Compared to home lighting, where comfort is the primary requirement, commercial lighting technology is more diverse and abundant. In addition to basic requirements, it places more emphasis on creating atmosphere, shaping visual tension, and more directional considerations. Through appropriate lighting design, it guides overall movement and, through focal points and configuration, makes products or services more attractive and textured. Commercial lighting emphasizes overall dramatic effect, while home lighting emphasizes unity and harmony.
Home spaces and commercial spaces differ inherently; one is a fixed location for extended stays, the other a temporary space for brief visits. In lighting, homes emphasize harmony, while commercial spaces seek high sensory impact in a short time. Home lighting also reflects personality and lifestyle; most light sources emphasize homogeneity but also highlight special features, showcasing product strength. Analysis can be conducted from three aspects:
1. Expression of spatial or architectural characteristics: The operation of lighting is related to the nature of the space itself. For example, in glass curtain wall buildings, the boundaries between internal and external light are not clear, so how to integrate lighting with the architecture affects the overall visual effect.
2. Maintaining basic lighting while showcasing product features: While ensuring lighting effects, the basic illuminance of the space is maintained. Basic lighting refers to the ability to see the space and the ability to use techniques to create visual differences in brightness. For example, using the angle of light to outline the contrast between spatial light and light layers.
3. Focusing on the connection between lighting effects and people's psychological feelings: Generally, mid-range and high-priced goods will exhibit different color temperatures in lighting. Mid-range brands emphasize brightness and vibrancy, often choosing white light; expensive items require creating a textured and comfortable light source, mostly choosing yellow light. This can be divided into five directions: induction lighting, basic safety lighting, key lighting, scene lighting, and emergency and escape lighting.
Commercial lighting design is more responsible in configuration than home spaces and can be roughly divided into five directions: Induction lighting: This refers to establishing a visual order from the beginning, perhaps upon seeing the surrounding entrance, using small-scale light to guide customers into the space. Basic safety light distribution: Different products have different characteristics, but they all require a certain level of lighting to identify products and ensure customer safety within the space. For example, a restaurant needs a light source that gently illuminates the tables, highlighting the food; while a clothing store needs sufficient light on clothing displays to illuminate the products. Key lighting: This refers to local lighting. For example, a light source projected onto a display stand emphasizes the product's characteristics. Generally, this will mainly focus on LED spotlights. It can also be specifically placed in areas you want to emphasize to highlight features. Scene lighting: By manipulating different light sources, scene lighting adds visual changes to the space, enriching the imagination of space and light and shadow, creating a more diverse visual feast. For example, combining electronic products, using buttons to control different light and shadow atmosphere scene modes. With technological advancements, the current trend is to combine scene lighting systems with 3C products, allowing direct control through downloading software on a mobile phone. Emergency and escape lighting: Emergency lighting systems must be installed in accordance with regulations to protect public safety.
