Commercial lighting design is crucial for shopping malls. A complete commercial lighting system not only enhances the functionality of the mall's interior but also improves customer guidance and draws attention to merchandise. Only in this way can a comfortable shopping environment enhance the customer experience and stimulate purchasing desire. Therefore, creating a suitable commercial lighting environment to effectively attract consumers is the designer's primary concern. So what should be considered in commercial lighting design? Let's analyze it below.
(1) Create a good commercial atmosphere to attract and stimulate customers' desire to shop. In shopping malls, the role of light is to attract customers. Customers are more easily drawn to areas with good lighting effects. In fact, the better the lighting effect, the greater the increase in sales. Well-designed commercial lighting can create a comfortable and pleasant atmosphere for customers, making them feel relaxed and at ease.
Effective lighting in shopping areas makes customers feel comfortable and encourages repeat visits. Unique and novel lighting design highlights the mall's interior design and enhances the overall lighting impression. In bakeries or butcher shops, good lighting makes meat and bread products appear more appetizing, allowing customers to quickly discern food quality.
Data shows that when the color temperature is 3000-4000k and the illuminance is 400-600lux, the lighting achieves a highly efficient and eye-catching effect, improving staff efficiency while stimulating customer purchasing behavior and boosting mall traffic.
(2) Create good visual conditions and ensure sufficient lighting quality in the mall. First, the lighting of merchandise must be addressed. The true appearance of the goods must be presented to the customer, allowing for easy identification of the product's color. Therefore, the lighting of the merchandise must be close to outdoor sunlight in brightness and tone. Daylight-toned light can make illuminated goods appear more beautiful without altering their texture or color appearance. Fluorescent lights are more economical, but they can alter the original color of the merchandise when used for lighting. Secondly, some goods lose their luster under prolonged exposure to strong lighting, and high-power lighting can also cause fading. Furthermore, in the shopping space of a mall, due to numerous shelves, some of which are quite high, it is necessary to pay attention to the obstruction of light by shelves to avoid uneven illuminance in the space, with different illuminance on upper and lower shelves. At the same time, the shopping characteristics of the mall and the limited mobility of elderly customers should be considered. Special attention should be paid to the vertical illuminance below the shelves, ensuring that goods on the lower shelves can be clearly seen without excessive bending, maintaining a high illuminance level throughout the shelf space.
(3) Lighting arrangement should be flexible to adapt to changes in merchandise and containers. This means considering the characteristics of each functional area of the mall and designing a matching lighting scheme to highlight merchandise and accurately reflect its shape, color, luster, and texture. For example, lighting is crucial in the sales area, while in the hall corridors, the guiding role of lighting is more prominent, with the contrast between darkness and brightness used to guide people to brighter areas. In boutique display areas, spotlights can be used to cast light on merchandise, making it stand out and create a stronger visual impact.
